We conducted a thorough investigation into how vitamin B12, alongside a combination of other treatments, impacts pain relief in individuals suffering from back pain. Our focus was on a clinical study that compared two groups: one receiving a combination of diclofenac-cholestyramine, uridine, cytidine, and vitamin B12, while the other group received only the nucleotides and vitamin B12.
After a 10-day treatment period, we observed that the combination including vitamin B12 led to a significant reduction in pain for a large number of participants. Specifically, about 87.5% of those in the combined treatment group experienced a notable reduction in pain measured by the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). In contrast, only 51.23% of the control group reported similar results.
Additionally, we found that 80% of participants receiving the combination treatment experienced a marked improvement in their daily functionality. This was a stark contrast to just 29.3% in the control group, showcasing the potential benefits of adding vitamin B12 to pain management regimens in treating acute, non-traumatic back pain.
Importantly, we noted that the overall safety profile of the treatments was good, with not many adverse effects reported. This suggests that incorporating vitamin B12 with other active ingredients can be a well-tolerated option for those dealing with painful conditions affecting the lower back, hips, and neck.
